East Bridgewater Community Gardens – Creating a healthy growing community

Who We Are – Our Mission:

Our mission is to provide access to fresh, organic fruits, vegetables, and flowers through the development of community gardens. The gardens are a place of beauty for all to enjoy, in which neighbors can connect. Through the sharing of ideas and knowledge, people involved in the community gardens will benefit from increased awareness of organic gardening, health, and nutrition.

East Bridgewater Community Gardens (EBCG) is located in East Bridgewater, MA. Our rental plots provide access to fresh, local, organically grown vegetables for all who participate.

Established in 2016, EBCG currently manages a quarter acre of growing space comprising 22 rental plots. The “Food Bank” plot and the “Potato Patch” are dedicated to supplying fresh produce to local food pantries, and the “Pollinator Plot” is managed by STEM students from Massasoit Community College in conjunction with their research in native pollinators.

Since 2018, EBCG has produced thousands of pounds of fresh organic vegetables which were harvested and donated same day to local food pantries.

The organization has working relationships with many local organizations including the East Bridgewater Board of Selectman, the East Bridgewater Department of Public Works , East Bridgewater Agricultural Commission, food pantries at East Bridgewater’s Congregational and Catholic churches, local businesses such as Whitmore’s Yard Care and the YMCA.

EBCG is unique in that it brings together people who care about the environment, health and nutrition, education, economic development, and building stronger communities. EBCG is the catalyst for creating friendships between members and others that otherwise would probably never have occurred. EBCG is about providing access so everyone interested has a sustainable way to grow healthy food for themselves and their families.

Governance: Community Gardens Stewards

The gardens are orchestrated by the Community Gardens Stewards, an all-volunteer committee. We meet once a month at the East Bridgewater Public Library, and our meetings are open to all.  Please see our meeting schedule on the “Learn What’s New” page.  You can reach us through the “Connect With Us” page.  We are here to help you!
